Lead Technical Artist

Video game client in Southern California has an immediate opening for a Lead or Principal Technical Artist. This position is a full-time, direct-hire position. There is no contracting involved in this position. This job can be 100% remote.

Job Responsibilities:

Client is looking for an experienced Technical Artist to help define and build art tools, processes, and pipelines in Unreal.

Person hired should have the ability to act as a lead or principal technical artist and share processes, develop, define and build art focus tools.

The Technical Artist must have an art focus and enjoy working with other artists on the team to solve technical challenges.

Requirements:

Minimum of five years of experience in game development as a technical artist with several shipped titles in a senior or principal role

Understand UE lighting, lighting layers, and associated systems

Knowledge of shaders, HLSL

UE Rendering Pipeline; optimization knowledge in UE (LODs, Nanite, Clustering, packing)

Tool creation knowledge in UE

Maya or other 3D packages

Develop a UE Technical Art, Art Focus Pipeline

Experience with handling of mocap data, tech animation tools, rigging

Develop custom C++ code and Angel Script for UE
